LibreOffice Math is a simple but comprehensive module that allows you to produce high-quality vector images representing mathematical equations. From being a stand-alone application up to LibreOffice 3, it has now been absorbed into the other applications as a module, accessible through Insert/Object/Formula.
This command creates a small box in your document for the formula graphic, and opens up a text editing panel at the bottom of the screen. You can type directly into the panel or right-click to select components of your formula from drop-down menus. Math will convert the text version of the formula into the resulting image. Other options control the fonts used, the text size, the spacing and the alignment.
